the latest baby food
Posted on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 at 11:27 amCharlotte can’t quite pick up little pieces of fruit from her high chair tray yet, but I gave her a rice cake the other day to feed herself and she loved it. She might have actually eaten a little bit of it, but mostly just ended up with soggy pieces of rice cake all over herself and her high chair.

Posted on Monday, July 20th, 2009 at 7:22 pmCharlotte and I went on a trip to Boulder last week for five days. It was a lot of fun–we visited friends out there and enjoyed some hot summer weather. Flying alone was pretty exhausting since Charlotte has gotten really squirmy even since our trip to Spain.
I managed to fit Charlotte’s little inflatable pool in my suitcase, and she really liked playing in it in Erena and Shuka’s backyard.
And we went to my favorite burrito place:
creepy crawly
Posted on Sunday, July 12th, 2009 at 9:11 pmCharlotte has been pulling herself along the floor with her arms for the past few weeks, and just in the last week she has started to figure out how to get up her hands and knees to crawl. It’s not very graceful but she is starting to move fast. She got over to her bookshelf and pulled some books onto her head so quickly the other day. We are totally not ready for her to be moving around! We did a big childproofing shopping trip today to get gates, corner protectors for the coffee table, cabinet locks and things like that. We are going to gate off the living room and childproof that room. Then there’s an area between the kitchen and dining room which has a door at one side. We have a playmat and some toys on the floor there, and we’re going to put a gate on the other side so we can put her in there while we’re in the kitchen.
tooth fairy
Posted on Sunday, July 12th, 2009 at 8:58 pmWell, after many attempts, I managed to take this picture of Charlotte’s growing teeth. She has two very sharp little teeth poking through her bottom gums. Last week she seemed out of sorts and was not napping very well at all, and we think that was why.
Charlotte has green beans on her face here. She didn’t like them at first, but the taste seems to have grown on her. She really likes sweet potatoes and apples. Peaches are really not a big hit–I used the frozen kind and cooked and mashed them, but I think maybe they are too tart for her liking.
New Hampshire
Posted on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 at 4:22 pmWe spent last weekend in Dixville Notch, NH, at the Balsams resort for my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary. It’s way up there in NH, close to the Canadian border. We had so much fun and got to see the whole family. Charlotte loved all the new faces to look at and people to play with.
We had some sunshine Saturday afternoon and Charlotte went in the pool–her first time swimming. She seemed to like it. (Thanks to my cousin Jennifer for getting a good picture!)

Vermont
Posted on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 at 2:02 pmWe went up to Burlington for a few days last week on our way to my family reunion in northern NH. It was so nice to be up there again! We made it to a few of my favorite restaurants, and spent the day at the Shelburne Museum, which is a whole bunch of buildings with all kinds of stuff collected in them–paintings, old toys, sleighs, wagons, motorcycles, dolls, glassware, Tiffany lamps, etc. There’s a train and train station, a lighthouse and a steamship that used to be on Lake Champlain. It was amazing. The weather in Vermont was warm and sunny, too–much better than Boston.
We went to Bove’s for yummy Italian food:

a big mess
Posted on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 at 1:23 pmCharlotte loves sweet potatoes, even though in this picture it looks like they are mostly on her face and bib. She tried butternut squash this week and likes that too. Next I think we will do green beans. She had banana a few weeks ago and got a rash all over, so we haven’t done any more fruit since then.
