Posted on Monday, November 22nd, 2010 at 9:59 pmWe visited Indianapolis this past weekend. Charlotte had a lot of fun with her grandma, aunts, uncle and cousins, plus lots of other family. She loved the Indianapolis children’s museum, which is huge and really cool. She’s playing in the dinosaur exhibit below, wearing one of the dinosaur costumes.
We’ve discovered on our last few trips that Charlotte gets airsick. She threw up on the plane ride home, like she did on our flights to and from London. Charlotte is putting words together lately in funny ways, so today she said “Barf. Monkey shirt. Laundry,” when we were talking about our trip.

Posted on Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 at 6:56 pmWe got back a few days ago from a trip to London. Charlotte and I met Brian on his way home from a conference in Spain. It was a lot of fun, and also tiring. Charlotte wants to walk everywhere these days, so getting her into her stroller on busy streets turned into a wrestling match more than once. We saw a lot of the sights, though, and had some really good food.
Charlotte became obsessed with this backpack at the Tate Modern museum store.
We visited some great playgrounds in London. The Princess Diana memorial playground was huge, with a giant pirate ship, tunnels, teepees and lots of swings and slides. This one below was smaller and had goats and sheep roaming around.
Brian took these pictures from the London Eye.
We spent most of a day at the Tower of London, which is in the background here.
Inside the Tower of London–one of the Buckingham Palace guards seemed to be on loan.

summer vacation
Posted on Thursday, September 9th, 2010 at 7:11 pmWe spent most of last week (well, till we had to leave early because of the forecasted hurricane) at the Cape. Charlotte had a lot of fun playing on the beach every day. She learned a lot of new words while we were there — “bike ride,” “helmet” and “seaweed.” She has also started saying “no” a lot, but luckily also says “yeah!” and “yup!” too. Charlotte also said “buy” a lot while we were on vacation–when she saw a cupcake, or ice cream, or a toy she would point at it and to the cash register and say “buy! buy!” (Yesterday she got me to buy a package of toilet paper at the grocery store because it had a dog on it…she kept saying “woof woof! buy!” until I finally gave in.)
This is the view from the back porch where we were staying — this little pier was totally covered during high tide.
Charlotte liked eating breakfast outside.
We all ate lots of ice cream and frappes.
This is at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The weather was beautiful like this the whole week.
Charlotte was obsessed with the tiny crabs living in holes all along the trail.
spring vacation
Posted on Friday, April 23rd, 2010 at 7:43 pmWe spent a fun week in Colorado last week visiting friends.
We took Charlotte on a little nature walk in Rocky Mountain National Park. Unfortunately I didn’t get a good shot of her picking up a piece of dried elk poop.
Then we refueled with ice cream afterwards.
We walked around on Pearl Street a lot.
Pajama time with Charlotte and Charlie, Erena and Shuka’s new baby. Charlotte liked poking at him and pulling on his ears, and trying to get into his bouncy seat.
She also liked playing in the spice cabinet. (Thanks to Kristin for taking this picture!)
The safety information card provided some very important entertainment on the flight home.

Posted on Monday, July 20th, 2009 at 7:22 pmCharlotte and I went on a trip to Boulder last week for five days. It was a lot of fun–we visited friends out there and enjoyed some hot summer weather. Flying alone was pretty exhausting since Charlotte has gotten really squirmy even since our trip to Spain.
I managed to fit Charlotte’s little inflatable pool in my suitcase, and she really liked playing in it in Erena and Shuka’s backyard.
And we went to my favorite burrito place:
