pigtails

Posted on Monday, March 5th, 2012 at 7:04 pm

We’ve had a few successful tries at pigtails, although Charlotte seems to like her hair either wild and free (and oh is it wild) or with a barrette to keep some of it out of her face.

I think this was the first night of opening the advent calendar.

sewing

Charlotte likes playing with my sewing machine and pretending to make things. She also really likes measuring things with the tape measure or a ruler. She talks a lot about the things she’s going to do when she’s bigger, like cook dinner and ride in the front seat of the car.

dressing up

Charlotte is very particular about her clothes these days. She only wants to wear dresses and skirts that twirl, and only things that are pink and purple. Some of the things she refuses to wear are: jeans, black pants, white tights, and sneakers.

Here she is, wearing her Halloween costume over to Nana and Papa’s house. She was pretending to be a baby monkey.

Charlotte wore this pink tutu to school every day for three weeks until I gave in and bought her another one.

And this is Charlotte’s favorite thing to wear to bed and sometimes during the day too–her nightgown.

christmas 2011

The two things on Charlotte’s Christmas list were a Slinky and a scooter–so she was very happy on Christmas morning! She often says things like, “Santa brought me the perfect scooter. Santa knows I like pink and white.”

pre-Christmas 2011

I have a lot of other Christmas pictures, but in all of them Charlotte is naked…naked tree decorating, naked present-opening, etc. She spends most of her time at home with no clothes on. Luckily it hasn’t been too cold this winter!

We went to see the Boston Pops before Christmas.

Charlotte picked out this dress at the store and was very excited to wear it.

what we’ve been up to

Well, I’ve officially been terrible at updating this blog for the past few months. The combination of the holidays and a new job for me have kept all of us pretty busy.

It seems like a lot has happened with Charlotte in just a few months: she turned 3, learned to use the potty and got a big bed! She’s very into pretending these days–she switches between being Rapunzel, a baby penguin and a baby bunny pretty regularly.

Here she is waiting for the bus to go see Santa back in December. Charlotte loves taking the bus, maybe even more than taking the subway or train.

This is as close as she would get.

getting in the spirit

Charlotte is extremely excited about Christmas and her birthday this year. Here she is, very happy to have her own little poinsettia. (Yes, she is in fact naked behind the plant. She really likes to be naked these days.)

florida

We went to Captiva Island in Florida for a week at the end of August. We were planning to go to the Cape, but the trip was canceled because of Hurricane Irene.

a beautiful summer day

Charlotte played in this shallow pool outside the MFA while Brian and I lounged in the sun.

at fenway park

In July we went to a “Futures at Fenway” game, where the Red Sox AA and AAA teams play a doubleheader. It’s much cheaper and less busy than a usual Red Sox game. (July was when things were looking very bright over at Fenway…sigh.)

Charlotte had her hat signed by Wally, the Sox mascot, and spent quite a bit of the game talking about Wally and looking for him in the crowd.

It’s a bit hard to see, but if you look at the outfield screen you can see that Brian and Charlotte were on it!
