birthday girl!
Posted on Thursday, December 24th, 2009 at 9:12 pmCharlotte is 1 today! We had a busy day doing last-minute Christmas errands and going for a walk.
We put a candle in Charlotte’s toast this morning:
Later we had presents and dinner with her Nana and Papa.
Charlotte loves her new wagon from my Nana and Papa:
And she loved her first cake. We got her a maple cake with maple frosting. She ate an entire piece and made a giant mess.
a first word
Posted on Sunday, December 13th, 2009 at 7:43 pmOther than some version of “Daddy” or “Dad,” Charlotte’s first word was “mop” the other night when Brian took the mop out. She said it a few times in a row, with varying degrees of accuracy.
blueberries
Posted on Sunday, December 13th, 2009 at 7:38 pmCharlotte is obsessed with blueberries. She would eat an entire container in a sitting if we let her.

Some of her other favorite things to eat are broccoli, zucchini, black beans, Goldfish, olives and macaroni and cheese. She likes anything salty or with some spice to it. Charlotte is so far not a fan of whole milk, although she has started drinking it if we mix it with a lot of water (and still refer to it as water).
winter is here

Posted on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 at 8:30 pmWe think Charlotte may be practicing for the gymnastics floor exercise at the Olympics. According to Brian (who does bath time every night), this is a regular ritual before her bath.

Charlotte has been eating nonstop the past few days–we figure it’s either because of a growth spurt or the learning to walk, or both.
thanksgiving
Posted on Friday, November 27th, 2009 at 8:56 pmWe’ve had a few busy, nice days yesterday and today. For Charlotte’s first Thanksgiving we went to my parents’ house for lots of yummy food. Charlotte really liked the butternut squash soup, brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. She loved the cranberry sauce. And she ate her first meat, a few bites of turkey.
the elusive walking baby
Posted on Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 at 7:30 pmI spent awhile today trying to take a video of Charlotte walking, but I didn’t succeed. I just got a lot of videos like this of her standing up and tearing apart the Pottery Barn catalog. She takes three or four steps at a time and then sits back down. She walks away from furniture, or toward Brian or I, and then seems to realize she’s walking and sits down again.
